Photography shop develops a new payments perspective with Worldpay clearly in the picture.
Colliers Photo Imaging uses Worldpay 360 POS system to now bring everything into sharp focus
Colliers Photo Imaging is a family-run photographic shop based in the Uplands area of Swansea, South Wales.
Opened in 1989 by Mike and Barbara Collier, and passed on to their son, Neil, in 2010, the business specialises in a wide range of photographic services, including passport and visa photos, photo restoration, printing, framing, digitising of slide, negatives and VHS video tapes – and much more.
In 2013, Colliers won “Shop of the Year” for the entire U.K. as an independent store which, as Neil proudly points out, “Was quite the pleasing achievement for us.”
Changes to business; Plus cash is also no longer king
Neil imparts that he’s seen quite a lot of transformations over the years, from the previous days of analogue film processing and old camera sales to digitization and video transfers, canvas prints and framing.
“More recently, we also started selling a lot of retro artwork, which has proven very popular with our customers,” he notes.
Another fundamental shift in business that Neil has directly witnessed is that cash is no longer the king it used to be in the retail world.
“A high percentage of people now pay predominantly by card – there's very little cash coming through the door anymore,” he observes. “So, it’s important for us to be able to take payments efficiently over the counter and over the phone, which we do with some clients as well.”
Worldpay 360 POS system is the answer
Neil describes his previous card machine from a different payments processor as “actually quite slow.” He then learned about Worldpay 360.
Designed for small businesses in the U.K., Worldpay 360 is a scalable, point-of-sale (POS) system that makes life easier for Colliers Photo Imaging by streamlining their operations, enhancing the customer experience and supporting growth so Neil can focus on keeping his clients happy and becoming repeat visitors to his shop.
“What attracted me to the Worldpay 360 product was the combination of the terminal itself and its ease of use, the speed by which transactions are carried out, its inventory management capabilities and the detailed insights it provides me.”
Neil further shares that his favourite features of Worldpay 360 are the ability he has to add his own categories and subcategories. “Because we have many products in the store,” he explains, “I wasn't always aware of which ones actually formed the bulk of my day-to-day sales. It’s really beneficial for me to see that breakdown of the day-to-day analytics – that's a really good aspect of this product.”
Fast implementation and shorter customer wait times
According to Neil, getting Worldpay 360 up and running was a breeze. “It’s actually pretty easy to get started. You tap into the Wi-Fi, it updated itself and I was up and running within an hour.
“With Worldpay 360,” he summarises, “the processing of payments is very quick – almost instantaneous – so the waiting time for customers at the counter is very short now.”
