O’Kane Meats returns to Worldpay and appreciates the beefed-up terminals, dashboard and support they now receive versus other processors

Since beginning trading in 1989, the dedicated, two-generational team at O’Kane Meats has proudly upheld the rich tradition of expert butchery by combining time-honoured skills with a passion for quality to deliver premium products their customers can trust.

Situated in the village of Claudy, County Derry, Northern Ireland, O’Kane Meats attracts loyal retail customers from all walks of life within a 32-kilometer (20-mile) radius of their location. The business also proudly supplies top-tier meats to the region’s hospitality industry.

With their motto of, “Putting up our quality, instead of our prices,” O’Kane Meats is a founding member of the Elite Butchers Association of Northern Ireland.

Over the decades, the business has also earned some 124 awards, including Overall Retailer of the Year, the National Federation of Meat and Food Traders and the National Federation of Festive Meats. O’Kane Meats has also been recognized as “Best in Ireland” by the renowned John and Sally McKenna Good Food Guide.

A former Worldpay customer returns

According to Rory O’Kane, proprietor and director of O’Kane Meats, he was formerly a Worldpay customer for several years before leaving and subsequently working with a few other providers.

“In the past, we have been driven to change processors due to rates and other costs,” he acknowledges. “Although this is certainly important for all small businesses, we recognise the attraction of a new offer is long forgotten when the quality of that product and customer service falls well below our expectations. That’s when we realised we needed to return to Worldpay.”

Challenges to be addressed

When he used other providers Rory shares that, “We had ongoing connectivity and reliability issues. We also didn’t have the best experiences when seeking resolutions, as trying to contact various help desks became a stressful event. And the continuing rising fees also became an issue.”

Business needs

In outlining his payments-related requirements, Rory says, “Having a business dashboard that is easily accessible and understood is critical, as is next-day settlement of funds to our account. We also need a fast, dependable service, where connectivity issues are non-existent, and providing top-notch customer support is the primary interest of our provider.”

No beef with Worldpay

Rory expresses how pleased he is to be back working with Worldpay again.

“The Worldpay Dashboard is an excellent portal that provides us with all the information our business requires. I can see when funds have been credited, and also have access to transaction history – as well as our invoices.

“Further,” he continues, “we have had no connectivity issues with our Worldpay point-of-sale card terminals – 100% uptime – even during our incredibly busy periods, which leads to a great experience for our customers. The reliability and quality of those terminals is vital – if they fail, our business fails.”

Regarding his interactions with Worldpay, Rory is quick to credit the ongoing assistance he receives.

“The Worldpay Support Centre consistently delivers prompt and efficient service whenever a question or an issue may arise. On top of that, our dedicated sales contact goes above and beyond by regularly checking in to make sure everything is running smoothly – he even steps in personally to resolve any challenges as needed. His assistance with inquiries has also been incredibly beneficial.
