A Payments Peek into Retail’s BIG Show 2016

Retail’s BIG Show 2016 is just days away, and the Worldpay team is excited to see what this year’s expo has in store. Sponsored by the National Retail Federation (NRF), the BIG Show will bring more than 30,000 retail experts and industry professionals together Jan 17-20 at New York’s Javits Center for four days of total immersion into the world of retail.

From networking to product demos to speaking sessions, the BIG Show features the hottest trends and most cutting-edge technology retail has to offer.

If you’re headed to the Retail’s BIG Show 2016 next week, you’ll want these three payments areas on your radar:

  • Biometric authentication: Biometric technologies have taken big strides lately, especially on the mobile payments front. On top of fingerprint scanning, some unique authentication developments include “selfie” photos and “PED Cams” (Pin Entry Device Cameras) to establish biometric facial templates.
  • Fraud protection beyond EMV: The U.S. move to EMV is bringing better fraud protection to card-present transactions and a likely increase in fraud activity on e-commerce platforms. Cloud-based payments security features like tokenization, P2P encryption and secure vaulting for card-not-present (CNP) transactions can help and will be a big focus at the show better fraud protection.
  • Wearables: Also keep an eye out for new wearable retail tech, like payment rings and Google Glass apps, particularly as contactless payment acceptance at the point-of-sale continues to grow.

Stop by the Worldpay booth #215 to learn more about these payments trends and enter for your chance to win a Fitbit Charge HR.
