What is a payment gateway and how does it work?
A payment gateway enables transactions between a merchant and customer. When a customer enters their card details on a website’s payment page, the payment gateway encrypts the card details to process the card transaction. The card details are first routed to the acquiring banks and then the card schemes. If the customer has sufficient funds in their account, the information is sent back to the merchant informing the customer the payment has been accepted.
