BritWeek is a non-profit organization that was created to educate the public of the contributions British organizations have made to the U.S. Established in Los Angeles in 2007, BritWeek now visits Orange County, Orlando and Miami each year to celebrate the creative fusion and innovation between the U.K. and the U.S. Last week, the annual celebration made its debut in Atlanta.
Titled “A Great British Weekend,” BritWeek’s Atlanta launch consisted of four days of special events and presentations, including the Oglethorpe Gala hosted by the British-American Business Council of Georgia. At the event, Worldpay US received the prestigious Oglethorpe Award – an annual good citizenship award honoring the most impactful recent contribution to advance British-American inspired business development.
Worldpay US was honored to accept the award as recognition of its ability to serve and scale with both the American and British business communities through a single organization. Headquartered in London, Worldpay processes approximately 42 percent of all transactions in the U.K. The company is the trusted payments partner of some of the U.K.’s largest retailers, but also for hundreds of thousands of small and medium sized businesses in the U.K. and U.S., and some of the most innovative and fast growing e-commerce businesses globally.
This accolade places Worldpay US in great company, as previous Oglethorpe Award recipients include Lockheed Martin, Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Turner Broadcasting, the City of Atlanta and more.
