In today’s marketplace, consumers want payment options that cater to their fast-paced lifestyles. Many consumers reported chip card processing was disruptive to their preferences, as chip card-in-terminal wait times could last up to 20 seconds. Quick Chip technology offers a solution to streamline the chip card process for everyone involved, from merchants to consumers.
Quick Chip technology is a chip card payment processing upgrade that decreases in-terminal transaction times for customers using chip cards down to approximately three seconds. Now consumers can remove their chip card from a reader at the point-of-sale before their purchase is approved.
“The transition to chip cards has not been an easy one for consumers or merchants, particularly when it comes to transaction wait time” said Ian Van Buskirk, Vice President of Product Management, Worldpay US. “Worldpay is responding to this business and consumer feedback with Quick Chip. We hope to drive increased industry awareness, preference and adoption of Quick Chip for the benefit of consumers, businesses and the industry-at-large.”
Beginning May 1, Worldpay U.S. customers will be able to implement Quick Chip technology beta to terminals using a free software download. All new customers will receive terminals with pre-loaded Quick Chip software.
