Enabling enterprise partnerships

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of economies worldwide. We’ve created partnerships with charities and NGOs to share our business expertise, infrastructure and resources to support the next generation of small business owners. We are extending our range of enterprise partnerships, working with each of our offices around the world.

NUS Enterprise, Singapore

In 2017 we formed a new partnership with National University of Singapore Enterprise which provides educational opportunities to help talented young people develop an entrepreneurial and global mindset. Worldpay will be involved by mentoring the students, providing experts at FinTech events, judging hackathons and providing support for the university’s social enterprise challenge. Worldpay colleagues will also be mentoring on the Lean Launchpad programme, a 10-week business validation programme for start-ups and technology teams.

ATDC Georgia Tech's FinTech Programme, USA

In 2015 we partnered with Georgia Tech to develop a new financial technology (FinTech) programme to help start-up companies in the sector. Worldpay invested $1 million as part of a three-year commitment to help grow young technology companies in Atlanta, working with Georgia Tech’s technology business incubator, the Advanced Technology Development Centre (ATDC).

Companies taking part in the ATDC FinTech Programme get a wide range of benefits, including access to early customers, capital and campus resources. Senior Worldpay executives advise them on payments integration into their software and applications, as well as helping them develop effective go-to-market strategies.

A year after the launch ATDC is already working with 20 innovative start-ups – eight of which have already raised more than $16.8 million in funding. There have been some spectacular success stories and the Technology Association of Georgia named three of the companies as the top three FinTech start-ups in Georgia in 2016.

Processing charitable donations

Worldpay supports various charities by processing fundraising donations through our payment platforms free of charge. Our vast payment processing capacity allows for the high volumes needed to support major fundraising events.

Comic Relief

We’ve been processing payments for Comic Relief for more than 10 years and were recently awarded Platinum Sponsor status in recognition of our support. Comic Relief aims to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people, and supports charities around the world. The highlights of Comic Relief’s appeal are Red Nose Day and Sports Relief, two national televised events. In 2016, our High Capacity Gateway processed 216,134 transactions totalling over £6 million for the Comic Relief telethon. Volunteers in our Gateshead call centre helped to take payments while other colleagues across the country got into the spirit by raising £8,000 through various fundraising events.

“Worldpay has been a longstanding technology partner with Comic Relief and plays a key role helping us to deliver successful campaigns year on year. In addition Worldpay is a truly committed technology partner and works with Comic Relief year-round. They provide valuable support for our technical innovation initiatives, offer expertise in areas such as compliance and give us invaluable insight into the rapidly changing landscape of the payments industry.” Derek Gannon, CEO Comic Relief

Stand Up to Cancer

Worldpay has been supporting Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) with free payment processing since it launched in 2012. Cancer Research’s annual fundraising campaign aims to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. The national televised event sees celebrities hosting an evening of comedy and entertainment. In 2016 we processed around 50,000 donations on the night, amounting to nearly £1 million, as well as providing on-site technical support.
