Worldpay Lands Xiamen City’s Flagship Airline
Hong Kong/Singapore, 07 June 2016 – Xiamen Airlines, the flagship airline of China’s Xiamen City, has selected Worldpay as its crucial online payments provider to help it expand into new international markets.
Xiamen Airlines, which previously served only short and medium-haul destinations, is in the process of adding new long-haul destinations to its growing global network; including Australia, Canada, Holland and the US. To support this growth, Xiamen Airlines needed a global payments provider with the scale and international expertise to help it build a successful eCommerce presence both in China and abroad.
Since implementing an end-to-end payments system from Worldpay, Xiamen Airlines has seen its payments acceptance rates soar to 90% across all markets. This represents an improvement of nearly 40% compared to the rates it was experiencing with its previous local provider.
Worldpay is also helping Xiamen Airlines to gain more insight into its customers’ purchasing habits in each market, so the airline can better tailor its online services to their preferences. This includes accepting travellers’ favoured payment methods, such as telephone orders via their Call Centre, iDEAL in Holland, Poli in Australia and eNets in Singapore.
Xiamen Airlines commented: “We needed a partner that could help take our business to the next level internationally. As the payments provider of choice for China’s top national Airlines, Worldpay was the ideal company to help us meet that ambition, and the improvements we’ve seen to-date have certainly proven we made the right choice. We look forward to achieving further successes with Worldpay as we continue to expand into new markets.”
Stuart Thornton, VP Business Development, Global eCommerce at Worldpay, commented: “Xiamen Airlines has embarked on an ambitious growth programme, and in today’s market that means it must deliver a robust online experience for travellers everywhere. By working with Worldpay Xiamen Airlines has taken this one step further, building our years of international experience and insight into local payment habits into its eCommerce strategy. Importantly for us, this deal solidifies Worldpay’s position as the leading payments partner for China’s airline industry.”
